Drummer and bandleader Jacob Wutzke leads a fiery jazz quartet playing original music and fresh takes on classic jazz standards. Falling somewhere between hard-grooving and introspective, Wutzke’s music makes you think AND dance.
Having just returned to Montreal after spending the year in NYC, Wutzke carries with him a hard-hitting New York sensibility that he brings to his music. The quartet will perform music from Wutzke’s brand new album “Pedalling Falsehoods” — his 3rd full-length in as many years.
A staple of the jazz scene, he has performed with Caity Gyorgy (recorded on 3 JUNO winning albums), Nick Maclean Quartet (1x JUNO nominee), Ira Coleman, Jocelyn Gould, Benny Benack iii, Anthony D’Alessandro, Bryn Roberts and more. He also regularly tours with his own groups performing original material.
A graduate of Humber College (Bachelor of Music - 2019) and McGill University (Masters in Jazz Performance - 2022), Jacob is well-respected in the music community and can be seen performing at prestigious clubs, halls, and jazz festivals around the globe. He is also a committed music educator and author, having self-published several drum method books that have become essential practice tools for drummers around the world.
Jacob is an official artist for the following instrument makers: Funch Cymbals, Evans Drumheads, ProMark Sticks, & Dragonfly Percussion.
