About this Event
Jacob Smigel: from songwriter to ER doctor— and back again!! Is proud to celebrate the release of his new album “We Laughed a lot, Didn’t We.” Smigel has teamed up a second time with Providence, RI’s own Deer Tick, who back him on this recording. This collaboration has elevated his song-craft and resulted in many styles and many moods... From the progressive self-help of Self-Preservation, to the dad-rock of Being a Dad (a Loudon Wainwright cover), to a 90’s tribute called The Best Song on the Album. Nashville Scene says “He’s folded interests like medicine and entomology and a fascination with found sound into gentle songs that seem to tumble out of his head fully formed.” Vowing to keep artistic expression at the forefront of his life, this Austinite plays live at Captain Quack’s Bakery and Coffeehouse Sunday, September 14th @ 6:30-8:30 pm. The show is all-ages and tickets are $10 in advance or at the door, with kids 12 and under being free of charge.
Starting off the evening is Sergio Martinez, and Austin-based songwriter, born and bred in Portland, TX. He has been making amazing music at home and on the trails for over 25 years. He has tried his best— and lost more fights than he’s won— but he's never stopped working and writing along the way. Arrive early to feel the warmth of his fire, catch the twinkle in his eye, and taste the dust of his boots.
