Piedzimis un audzis Detroitā kā jaunākais no 10 brāļiem un māsām, Džeks Vaits visā savā darbībā seko ulitārai pieejai.
Sākot no paša radītās mūzikas un beidzot ar viņa dibināto mūzikas impēriju “Third Man” (kurā pašlaik ietilpst ierakstu kompānija, trīs fiziski veikali, fotolaboratorija, atpūtas telpa/bārs un citas), tāpat pašrocīgu mēbeļu polsterēšanu un dažādām citām mākslas un dizaina aktivitātēm, kā arī visu pārējo, kas nonāk viņa uzmanības lokā.
Vairāk nekā ceturtdaļgadsimtu ilgajā profesionālās muzikālās karjeras laikā Vaits demonstrē nepārspējamu spēju savā mūzikā ieaust mūsdienīgus, saistošus un aizkustinošus mākslinieciskus elementus.
Izgājis daudzu jauno mūziķu ierasto neatkarīgo grupu pieredzi,1997.gadā Džeks ar tā brīža sievu Megu Vaitu nodibināja The White Stripes, taču neviens, un vismazāk jau viņi paši, nevarēja iedomāties, ka noslēpumainais sarkanbaltmelnais duets iekaros plašāku auditoriju. Grupas debijas un otrais albums "De Stijl" guva kritiķu atzinību un piesaistīja kaislīgu andergraunda fanu bāzi, taču tieši 2001.gada albums "White Blood Cells" panāca dueta nonākšanu uz žurnālu vākiem, un pasaules turneja palīdzēja pulcēt jau pavisam apjomīgu auditoriju. Fell in Love With a Girl kļuva par grupas izrāviena hitu, un tam radītais Mišela Gondrija "Lego" klips tika izvēlēts par 2000.gadu labāko mūzikas video.
Albuma "Elephant" izdošana 2003.gadā ne tikai nostiprināja grupas statusu, bet arī iepazīstināja ar Seven Nation Army – megahitu, kas gadu gaitā kļuvis par gandrīz katra komandu sporta veida līdzjutēju skandējamo himnu. Iespējams, ka daudzi pat neko nav dzirdējuši par The White Stripes, taču aizraujošo “Ooo-oho-ho-hoo” katrs stadiona vai arēnas apmeklētājs atpazīs jau no pirmajām sekundēm.
Līdz ar nākamajiem diviem The White Stripes albumiem - “Get Behind Me Satan” (2005) un “Icky Thump” (2007) – Džeks Vaits apliecināja sevi, kā viena no spožākajām un atzītākajām personībām XXI.gs. rokmūzikā, jo īpaši indī un garāžroka žanrā.
2004.gadā Vaits producēja slavenās kantrimūzikas dziedātājas Loretas Linnas albumu “Van Lear Rose”, kas saņēma 2 Grammy balvas. Vai arī sarakstījis un duetā ar Ališiju Kīzu ieskaņojis Another Way to Die - titulkompozīciju bondiādes filmai “Mierinājuma kvants”.
Līdz šim kopumā Džeks Vaits ieguvis 12 Grammy balvas astoņās dažādās kategorijās un 34 šīs balvas nominācijas, žurnāls Rolling Stone viņu divreiz iekļāvis pasaules izcilāko ģitāristu sarakstā, 2017.gadā viņš saņēma Producentu un skaņu inženieru asociācijas “Prezidenta nopelnu balvu” un 2025.gada nogalē Džeks, līdz ar Megu, tika uzņemts Rokenrola slavas zālē.
Pēc The White Stripes Džeka Vaita radošais ceļš vijies cauri 2 citām grupām - The Raconteurs un The Dead Weather (abām viņš bijis līdzdibinātājs) – līdz novedis pie solokarjeras. Tās ietvaros klajā nākuši seši studijas albumi, no kuriem kritiķi īpaši akcentē 2 pirmos (“Blunderbuss” (2012) un “Lazaretto” (2014)) un līdz šim pēdējo (“No Name” (2024)).
Analogā skanējuma cienītājus noteikti imponē fakts, ka Džeks Vaits ir šāda ieraksta formāta un arī nesēju (vinila plašu) propagandētājs: “Man patīk analogais [formāts] tāpēc, ka tas liek jums darīt. Digitālais ieraksts sniedz jums visu to brīvību, visas šīs iespējas mainīt skaņas, kuras jūs ierakstāt, taču tā lielākoties nav labākā izvēle māksliniekam. Mehānika vienmēr nodrošinās raksturīgus mazus trūkumus, sīkus plankumiņus un šņākšanu, kas papildinās ideju ar kaut ko skaistu, pat romantisku. Nevainojama, laikus un pilnīgi bez svešiem trokšņiem padarīta lieta nav tas, uz ko jātiecas! Kāpēc gan lai kāds censtos ko tādu panākt?”
Līdzīgu uzskatu Džeks Vaits pauž arī atteicībā uz koncertiem, kur viņam joprojām neesot strikta dziesmu saraksta: “Ja jums jāuzstājas, kā pēc grāmatas, jums ir lāzeri un pirotehnika, visam jānoteik precīzi piedziedājumā, kļūdīties būtu nāvējoši. Bet tas, ko darām mēs, uzstājoties dzīvajā, manuprāt, tās ir skaistas lietas. Tā mēs varam pat krasi mainīt dziesmu būtību. Un tad visi telpā pēkšņi piedzīvo pavisam ko jaunu, par ko pirms 10 sekundēm pat iedomāties nevarējām.” Līdz ar to katra šī ekscentriskā talanta uzstāšanās pārtop par unikālu, pat viņam pašam neparedzamu piedzīvojumu un tāpēc vien apmeklējuma vērta.

On May 30th, the summer concert season of Western artists will begin in the Sigulda Castle Ruins with the performance of iconic musician Jack White. The winner of 12 Grammys and other prestigious awards, songwriter, versatile musician, producer, actor and overall one of the most significant personalities in modern rock music of this century will give his only concert in the Baltic States this summer.
Latvian alternative rock band “Bēdu Brāļi” are the confirmed special guests to support Jack White.

Born and raised in Detroit as the youngest of 10 siblings, Jack White’s utilitarian approach filters through all of his work, from self-producing his own music to the Third Man empire he founded (which currently includes a pressing plant, a record label, three physical retail stores, a photo lab, a lounge/bar, and more), his upholstery and various other art and design pursuits, and anything else that crosses his desk. Over a quarter century into his professional musical career, White’s ability to weave relevant, compelling, and poignant artistry into his music leaves him unparalleled.
Having gone through the typical independent band experience of many young musicians, Jack founded The White Stripes in 1997 with his then-wife Meg White, but no one, least of all themselves, ever expected that a red, white and black two-piece band would take hold in the mainstream world. The band's self-titled debut and sophomore effort De Stijl amassed critical acclaim and built a passionate underground following, but it was the release of 2001’s White Blood Cells that thrust the White Stripes onto magazine covers as they captivated larger audiences through worldwide touring. “Fell in Love With a Girl” served as the band’s breakthrough hit and its accompanying Michel Gondry Lego clip was chosen by Pitchfork as the #1 music video of the 2000s.
The release of Elephant in 2003 not only cemented the band’s reputation, but also offered the #1 hit single “Seven Nation Army,” which has since been appropriated as arguably the most popular chant in sports stadiums around the world. Many may not even heard anything about The White Stripes, but every sports fan will recognize the exciting “Ooo-oho-ho-hoo” from the first seconds.
With the following two The White Stripes albums - “Get Behind Me Satan” (2005) and “Icky Thump” (2007) - Jack White established himself as one of the brightest and most recognized personalities in 21st century rock music, especially in the indie and garage rock genres.
In 2004, White teamed up with Loretta Lynn to produce and perform on her “Van Lear Rose” album, an effort that won 2 Grammy Awards. Or, together with Alicia Keys, he wrote and recorded the title track Another Way to Die for the Bond film “Quantum of Solace.”
To date, White has won total 12 Grammys in eight different categories with 34 career nominations, and was honored with the Producers & Engineers Wing “President’s Merit Award” in 2017. Rolling Stone magazine has twice included him in the list of the world's greatest guitarists and at the end of 2025, Jack, along with Meg, were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
After The White Stripes, Jack White's creative path has led through 2 other groups - The Raconteurs and The Dead Weather (both of which he was a co-founder) - until he started a solo career. As part of this, six studio albums have been released, of which critics especially emphasize the first 2 ("Blunderbuss" (2012) and "Lazaretto" (2014)) and so far the last ("No Name" (2024)).
Fans of analog sound will certainly appreciate the fact that Jack White is a proponent of this recording format, as well a strong advocate of the vinyls: “I love analog because of what it makes you do. Digital recording gives you all this freedom, all these options to change the sounds that you are putting down, and those are for the most part not good choices to have for an artist," and "Mechanics are always going to provide inherent little flaws and tiny little specks and hisses that will add to the idea of something beautiful, something romantic. Perfection, making things perfectly in time and perfectly free of extraneous noise, is not something to aspire to! Why would anyone aspire to such a thing?”
Jack White also expresses a similar opinion regarding concerts, where he still does not have a strict set list: “Where for set you are doing by the book where you have the lasers and the pyro, all happens right at the chorus, to make the mistake would be deadly. But what we're doing and playing live, I think those are beautiful things. And they can change the whole way that we swerve the songs. And now everyone in the rooms is in the whole new thing we never knew was going to happen 10 seconds ago.”
Consequently, each performance of this eccentric talent turns into a unique, unpredictable experience even for him, and for that reason alone it is worth visiting.
