Ivy Big Band is a brand new space for women and gender minorities to get involved in jazz and this is our very first gig! We know that the jazz scene can be intimidating, especially for women and gender minorities. The aim of this project is to create an open, honest and encouraging big band setting where these groups are comfortable to get involved. When applications open, the band will be open to women, trans, non-binary and gender fluid musicians and will comprise of a full rhythm section, 4 trumpets, 5 saxes, 4 trombones and vocalists.
There is only one problem! We don’t have a full band yet! The Launch Gig will be a chance for us to show you what the band is all about, play some excellent tunes and, most importantly, explain how you can get involved in Ivy!
We’ll be playing a wide range of jazz, funk, soul and pop that is bound to have you moving your hips and singing along. We can’t wait to share our band with you and enjoy an evening together.
