Double-header Queer Horror Evening: Ivories and Creepy Boys IVORIES
A horror-comedy centering the disturbed, prodigal playwright Sloane, who has been summoned back to the home of their ailing grandmother to settle the estate. The longer Sloane spends in the labyrinthian decrepit house, the more unsettling their writing becomes, prompting their botanist husband Gwyn to confront the healthiness of their spouse regurgitating family trauma into their masterpiece. Thrown into the fray, Gwyn’s childhood best friend and realtor Beckham arrives to help the couple bury the hatchet… only to discover there may be more to the house, and to Sloane, that lies beneath the floorboards. If the basement is the stomach, then what’s the basement door?
Written and performed by transgendered playwright Riley Elton McCarthy, this formidable play investigates the horrors of returning home as a queer person, finding ones roots and dealing with the demons locked away in ones past. With a mix of non-binary, trans and queer characters, everyone has a story to tell.
