About this Event
In February 2025, thanks to further support from a COAST (Creating Opportunities Across Swansea Together) grant from Swansea Council the Swans Trust arranged further Swans Heritage talks and presentations prepared and delivered by Award Winning Author and Sports Writer, David Brayley* covering the ‘Swans at the 1958 World Cup’.
Since then, David - along with cinematographer, Max Webborn - has been focussing his efforts on making a documentary film for the Trust about one of the Swans stars at that World Cup, Swansea’s golden boy, Ivor Allchurch.
The film was shown to a packed house at Swansea’s Taliesin Theatre in October, and thanks again to the successful application and award of another COAST grant aimed at improving well-being for those aged 50+ who reside in or around Swansea the Trust is delighted to announce a further two free showings of the film, ‘Ivor Allchurch - Golden Days’ to take place at the Swansea.com stadium in February.
For these events David will show the film and then give a talk of the ‘Story behind the Story’, explaining how the film was made, stories about Ivor that didn’t make the final cut along with dozens of unseen photos that help tell Ivor’s story from his early days in Plasmarl to becoming a star at the world’s premiere tournament.
Filled with stats of Ivor’s career and the humour of behind-the-scenes stories of the film and Ivor’s career, it promises to be another event that will entertain and inform.
To allow as many of our Trust members and supporters to attend as possible there will be two opportunities to come along and listen to David present his talk at the Swansea.com stadium:
Friday 6th February - 10am to midday
Tuesday 10th February - 1:30pm to 3:30pm
Spaces are limited at these free events so we recommend you book your tickets as quickly as possible.
