Max Eastley & Rie Nakajima
Max Eastley is een geluidsinstallatie kunstenaar en muzikant. Hij was senior onderzoeker bij de AHRC aan de Oxford Brookes University, waar hij onderzoek deed naar Aeolische verschijnselen; City Sound Artist voor Bonn, Duitsland; componist in residentie bij DAAD, Berlijn, waar hij installaties tentoonstelde en concerten en optredens gaf, en als kunstenaar bij het Cape Farewell Climate Change Project. Hij heeft installaties gemaakt in grote galeries en voor openbare en particuliere collecties over de hele wereld, en Aeolische installaties in heel Europa.
Als muzikant en performer heeft Max vele solo concerten gegeven en heeft hij ook opgetreden en opnames gemaakt in samenwerking met andere muzikanten. Hij heeft ook samengewerkt met dansers en choreografen en een verscheidenheid aan mixed media-voorstellingen bedacht, waarvan de meest recente een heropvoering is van “Whirled Music” voor festivals in Zwitserland.
Rie Nakajima is een beeldhouwster die in Londen woont. Ze creëert geluiden door een combinatie van gemotoriseerde apparaten en alledaagse voorwerpen. Het kan gaan om installaties of performances. Haar artistieke praktijk, waarin beeldhouwkunst en geluid samensmelten, staat open voor toeval en de invloed van anderen. Haar eerste grote solotentoonstelling vond plaats in 2018 in de IKON Gallery in Birmingham. Ze heeft ook samengewerkt met Museo Vostell Malpartida (Cáceres), Association de Le Cyclop (Milly la Forêt), ShugoArts (Tokio), Donaueschinger Music Festival (Donaueschinger) en Cafe OTO (Londen). Ze heeft ook samengewerkt met Pierre Berthet, Angharad Davies, David Cunningham, Keiko Yamamoto, Miki Yui, Hans W. Koch, Marie Roux, Billy Steiger, David Toop en Akira Sakata.

Max Eastley is a sound installation artist and a musician. He has been an AHRC Senior Researcher at Oxford Brookes University investigating Aeolian phenomena; City Sound Artist for Bonn, Germany; a Composer in residence with DAAD, Berlin, exhibiting installations and giving concerts and performances and as an artist with the Cape Farewell Climate Change Project. He has made interior installations in major galleries and for public and private collections worldwide and Aeolian installations throughout Europe. Recordings of some of his installations are on the Paradigm label.
As a musician and performer, Max has played many solo concerts, as well as performing and recording in combinations with other musicians. He has also worked with dancers and choreographers and devised a variety of mixed media performances, the most recent being revivals of “Whirled Music” for festivals in Switzerland.
Rie Nakajima is a sculptor living in London. She creates sounds using a combination of motorised devices and daily objects. It can be installation or performance. Fusing sculpture and sound, her artistic practice is open to chance and the influence of others. Her first major solo exhibition was held at IKON Gallery in Birmingham in 2018. She has also worked with Museo Vostell Malpartida (Cáceres), Association de Le Cyclop (Milly la Forêt), ShugoArts (Tokyo), Donaueschinger Music Festival (Donaueschinger), and Cafe OTO (London). Allan Gilbert Balon
Kunstenaar en componist Allan Gilbert Balon werd in 1986 geboren in Les Abymes, Guadeloupe, en woont nu in Créteil (Frankrijk). Zijn veelzijdige werken combineren beeldhouwkunst, compositie, geluidsinstallaties en performance en verkennen thema's als aanwezigheid en intimiteit. Allan is samen met Uta Guan Hyë medeoprichter van Xyä Edition en heeft muziek uitgebracht op labels als Recital Program en Séance Centre.

Artist and composer Allan Gilbert Balon was born in Les Abymes, Guadeloupe in 1986 and is now based in Créteil (France). His protean works combine sculpture, composition, sound installations and performance and explore themes of presence and intimacy. Allan is the co-founder of Xyä Edition together with Uta Guan Hyë and has released music on labels like Recital Program and Séance Centre.

Caroline Profanter
Caroline Profanter is een componiste en performer geboren in Bozen. Haar werk schommelt tussen akoestische compositie en live uitgevoerde elektro-akoestische muziek, met een focus op imaginaire soundscapes en sonische verhalen. Ze is geïnteresseerd in geluiden en geluiden uit het dagelijks leven, die digitaal worden getransformeerd en als puur materiaal worden gebruikt. Daarom verzamelt ze veldopnames en combineert ze deze met instrumentale geluiden of elektronisch gegenereerde geluiden, met analoge synthesizers en feedbacksystemen. Ze werkt met meerdere luidsprekers, waarbij ze bepaalde ruimtes en oppervlakken als resonatoren gebruikt, en produceert werk voor Acousmonium en live spatialisatie.
Ze werkt regelmatig samen met kunstenaars uit andere disciplines, op het snijvlak van literatuur, video en radiokunst. Ze studeerde computermuziek en elektronische media aan de Universiteit voor Muziek en Podiumkunsten in Wenen en behaalde een masterdiploma in acousmatische compositie aan het Conservatoire Royal de Mons in België.
Ze woont en werkt in Brussel en maakt deel uit van het artistieke team van Q-O2, een werkruimte voor experimentele muziek en geluidskunst.

Caroline Profanter is a composer and performer born in Bozen. Her work oscillates between acousmatic composition and live-performed electroacoustic music, with a focus on imaginary soundscapes and sonic narratives. She is interested in sounds and noises taken from the context of everyday life, transformed digitally and used as pure material. Therefore she collects field recordings and combines them with instrumental sounds or electronically generated sounds, with analog synthesizers and feedback-systems. She works with multiple speaker settings, using given spaces and surfaces as resonators, and produces work for Acousmonium and live spatialization.
She collaborates regularly with artists of other fields, at the crossroad to literature, video and radio art. She studied Computer Music and Electronic Media at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna and holds a Master's degree in Acousmatic Composition at the Conservatoire Royal de Mons in Belgium.
Lives and works in Brussels and is part of the artistic team of Q-O2 workspace for experimental music and sound art.

Over In vitro / About In vitro
Iv (In vitro*) is een nomadische projectruimte en evenementenreeks gevestigd in Brussel. Ze richten zich op het promoten van hedendaagse muziek en geluidskunst door middel van live-concerten en tijdgebonden tentoonstellingen. Door een infrastructuur te creëren voor de ontwikkeling van experimentele geluidscultuur, proberen ze een artistieke gemeenschap te ondersteunen die vaak over het hoofd wordt gezien op commercieel en institutioneel niveau. In vitro streeft ernaar een platform te zijn voor de verspreiding van geluid op een internationale schaal.
