Lynnea Barry and company takes the stage at The Shedd Institute Saturday August 9 at 7:30 pm for IT'S NOT THE PALE MOON, an evening of Hoagy Carmichael classics as Oregon Festival of American Music 2025 continues.The concert repeats on Friday August 15 at 1:30 pm.
With roots in the 1920s Midwest hot jazz scene (he was a close friend of Bix Beiderbecke) Hoagy Carmichael established himself early as a composer of songs that were at once instant hits and enduring popular and jazz standards: “Star Dust”, “Georgia On My Mind”, “The Nearness Of You”, “Up A Lazy River”, “Heart And Soul”, “Lazybone”, “Skylark”, “Two Sleepy People” Lynnea and company, joined by Marisa Frantz, Vanessa Greenway and Gene Newbold, pay tribute.
