Queer Reads NYC is a book club centering queer stories, queer authors, and queer friends!

For our July event we'll be discussing The Honeys by Ryan La Sala and making braided friendship bracelets! Colorful embroidery floss and a quick tutorial will be provided to make bracelets while we chat about the book.

After the book & crafting time, we'll take suggestions for next month's book and charitable cause.

A portion of the profit from ticket sales will go towards a charitable organization, to be voted on by attendees.

We will bring blankets to spread out on the grass, but please feel free to bring your own.

The Honeys audiobook is highly recommended and available at the library! If you need to purchase the book, consider ordering from our Bookshop.org link instead of a billionaire owned site 😌

Queer Reads NYC Community Guidelines

Welcome to our Queer Reads NYC! We are passionate about building a community where everyone can share their love for literature and connect with others. To ensure that everyone feels heard, valued, and respected, we ask all participants to adhere to the following guidelines:

Celebrating Who We Are: Our book club is a space that honors the intersection of our identities and lived experiences. Please amplify those with the lived experience of our characters and authors and be willing to learn from others' perspectives.

Listen Actively: Give your full attention to whoever is speaking. Everyone's voice deserves to be heard. We’ll have time to chat in smaller groups before and after our discussion !

Engage Respectfully: Disagreements are natural, but they should be handled with care and respect. Critique ideas, not people.

Take Responsibility: If you make a mistake, own up to it and make amends. We all grow through learning and understanding.

Share Thoughtfully: We’re all passionate about what we read! Please be mindful of how often you are sharing. As you take space also make space for others.
