About this Event
The word ‘Oltre’ in Italian translates to meaning ‘Beyond’ - and this Supper Club truly goes beyond the bounds of a regular Supper Club.
Escape the every day and dive into a thoroughly traditional Italian experience with some new foodie friends! We've bottled up all the dinner party magic and invite you to join us for a deliciously memorable Supper Club. Not only will there be sipping and supping, but you will also have the opportunity to learn how to shape your own pasta, all while supporting local Melbourne hospitality.
This month, our travelling Supper Club delivers us to the stoops of Melbourne’s famous Prahran Market and into the doorway of it’s newest eatery, Oltre Alimentari e Cucina! You will be greeted by two Italian-speaking hospitality veterans; owners Salvatore Ciano and Samir Slimane, who are bringing a taste of the old country to this nostalgic Panini & Pasta Cafe.
Think candlelight. A classic, curated four-course Italian menu using local ingredients. Delightful chatter. Glasses clinking and delicious aromas.
But unlike any ordinary Supper Club, we will take you beyond. You will receive a private pasta making demonstration, right from the Cucina’s pasta making station. You might even want to roll up your own sleeves to turn out tagliatelle from their fancy Italian Pasta Exruder or shape gnocchi by hand on their flour-dusted benches.
WHAT’S ON THE MENU

MEET YOUR HOSTS
Oltre is the brain child of hospitality veterans and great friends, Sal and Sem. Salvatore Ciano is from a small town near Rome called Gaeta. He began his hospitality adventure as a dishwasher at Fonda Mexican when he arrived in Melbourne nine years ago and worked up to area manager of five restaurants. His business partner, Samir Slimane, grew up in southern Switzerland, near the Italian border. He also assisted in Fonda openings and, along the way, the Italian-speaking pair started to brew some plans.
"For us, it's important to make authentic products," says Ciano. "We stay true to Italian traditions and we don't compromise.”
Together, they decided to renovate a cafe outside of the Prahran Market's deli arcade, turning it into this welcoming and atmospheric cucina that we now call ‘Oltre’.
