About this Event
Italy is home to thousands of indigenous grape varieties, many of which nearly disappeared in the march toward international styles. But in the hands of small natural growers, these forgotten grapes are finding new life. In this class, we’ll travel from the volcanic slopes of Etna, where grapes like Nerello Mascalese channel fire and ash, to the heartland of Umbria, where old vines like Uva Pecora transmit rustic terroir.
Each glass is both a story of survival and a reminder of how biodiversity enriches our world. At harvest time, when we celebrate abundance, these wines invite us to remember the complexity of grape lineages and the local winemaking heritages they represent.
If you're a lover of Italian wine but want to get beyond the Sangiovese/Barbera/Nebbiolo of it all, this class is for you! And if you're new to Italian wine, this is a great introduction to the lesser-known regions and styles of one of the wine world's most historic players.
As always, tickets include 3 tasting pours and a one-hour class. Attendees also receive 10% off in-store purchases following the class.
