It Takes A Team To Protect A Child: Schenectady County MDT
Michael "Mike" V. Johnson, BSCJ (retired), was the Youth Protection Advisor and Director for the National Office of the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) from July 2010 to December 2020, where he advised on the organization’s efforts to enhance and improve youth protection policies, training, and procedures to ensure the safest possible environment for the organization’s youth. Prior to BSA, Johnson served 24 of his 28 years as the Lead Detective and Family Violence/Abuse Investigator in the Criminal Investigation Division of the Plano, Texas Police Department. An early pioneer and visionary in the field, Johnson was at the forefront of promoting the multidisciplinary team investigative approach and the Children’s Advocacy Center (CAC) movement in the early 1990s. He is a founder of the Collin County Children’s Advocacy Center and its multidisciplinary team. Please see the video above for more information about Detective Mike.
We invite you to participate in a two-day training led by Detective Mike Johnson, designed to enhance our MDT partner agency communication in child abuse investigations. This training will foster collaboration among our multidisciplinary team, ensuring we work together effectively to thoroughly investigate cases of child sexual abuse and exploitation and provide the highest level of care for these young victims.
All portions of the training will be held in the Carl B. Taylor Community Auditorium, which is #3 on the campus map below and will be from 9:00am-4:00pm on both Thursday, 11/21/24 and Friday, 11/22/24 (with check in both mornings from 8:30am-9:00am). Lunch on both days will be in the Van Curler Room, in Elston Hall, which is #8 on the campus map.
Parking for both days is complimentary in the Elston Parking Lot in any of the designated visitor sections.
