About this Event

Nine years separated Luton Town’s final game in non-league from their first match in the Premier League. No other club has climbed to the upper echelon of English football so quickly in the modern era. The Hatters achieved this feat responsibly, led by the same group of supporters, former players and local businessmen who saved the club from financial ruin.It Only Took Nine Years is the remarkable story of a provincial club’s rise from the footballing abyss to the affluent top tier, told by Tom Caldon, a lifelong fan who attended over 300 matches during those 10 seasons.

This book captures the sights, sounds and culture of the English Football League in the 2010s and 2020s, celebrating Luton’s classic Kenilworth Road Stadium and the heroes who played within.

Tom will be here to talk about whyhis book and the writing process, and there will be a chance to purchase copies.
