ISU Tapes, taking place at HALL´s restaurant ISU, is an event series that blends a lush Italian-inspired dining experience with live performances, showcasing artists from various genres. As a first act of the series, we are proud to present a musical art project Action Group, consisting of Alex Maiolo and Nick Williams. The nature of Action Group is to make a disposable piece of music that changes throughout the tour, tailored according to the city and the space they´re in and the crowd they are performing to. Modular synthesizers are at the heart of it, but any instrument can be added to the mix. The outcome is a mix of electro, motorik, ambient, and very early Detroit techno.
Alex Maiolo, a historian, journalist and writer, has previously collaborated with Danish musician Jonas Bjerre (Mew), Estonian composer and musician Erki Pärnoja, and musician Jonas Kaarnamets on a project called “Themes for Great Cities”, which was performed at the opening of Tallinn Music Week in 2021. The project was created to honor the city of Tallinn, incorporating the sounds of the city into the music.
ISU is an alternative restaurant with a twist inspired by the delights of Italian cuisine. It is ever-evolving and curated by HALL's in-house collective of artists experimenting with food art. Their concept holds value in providing a tasty culinary adventure that keeps sustainability in mind and music on top.
