About this Event
Meet everyone’s childhood favorite, the roly-poly, and learn how keep your own thriving colony at the Pollen Patch! Isopods, also known as potato bugs or doodle bugs, are zen desk pets, easy to handle. inexpensive to keep, and have inspired an international collectable-trading community.
By the end of this workshop you will have a bioactive isopod colony setup that you will only have to feed and water! Learn all about:
· Isopod husbandry basics
· Isopod enclosure setup
· Local related ecology concerns
· How to find and harvest your own supplies or colonies
· The connection between isopods and Pokémon
· Isopods as grounding totems for self-healing and connection to the earth
Please bring a watertight, lidded, roughly shoebox sized bin, tub, or tank to use as an enclosure. Several different isopod species will be available to choose from. All other necessary substrate, terrarium supplies, and bioactive critters will be provided, as well as a summary and care info printout.
Event will be held outdoors at the Pollen Patch, a grant-funded native medicinal plant garden. Feel free to bring your favorite lawn chair and check out photos on Instagram @thepollenpatchcolumbus! Workshop will be hosted by Angeline Rini.
