The lady pirates of the Jeweled princess invite you to join them on the Isle of Palms (hereinafter) Isle of Pirates on Saturday, July 13 for a day of adventure and celebration. The drama begins at 10 :15 when the Beach Reach Shuttle sails from the bus stop on Market Center Drive, over the waterway to arrive at County Park on the Isle of Pirates. The pirate crew will commandeer the shuttle and turn it into a pirate bus with sea shanties, outfitted pirates and plenty of gold doubloons to guarantee a friendly reception at the beach. When they arrive at County Park station, they’ll march to the sea and join the waters by pouring water from somewhere important to them into the Atlantic. In the past water has come from the Pineapple fountain at Waterfront Park, the font of a historic church and beloved pond. You are welcome to bring your own vial and join it to the waters of the great ocean.
The free bus to the beach will continue to bring people out to the beach and pirate camp throughout the day. https://bfltransit.blogspot.com/2024/05/bus-be-yo-best-way-to-beach.html
On the beach in front of the County park, the pirates will build a camp where they’ll meet the public, enjoy a coalition and libations and as Ken would put it, “Beach.” Jackson Hamilton will restore the ships stores by rendering salt from the water of the Atlantic Ocean in a great iron cauldron, recalling Ghadis' march to the sea for salt. There will be games, gifts and drama on the beach. Treasure will be buried for the children to find.
The action will spread through the front beach of the Isle of Pirates. Be on the lookout for outbreaks of Pirate Drama as The crew encounters the King’s Guard and members of Anderson’s band. They’ll also be seeking out strong refreshment in the taverns along the beach, sometimes tipping in rubies and gold.
There is a chance that Ken, Barbie and the crew from Barbieland may challenge the Pirates for rule of the beach. A battle between pink and black may ensue, from the Sea Cabins to the Windjammer.
You can reach all of this without bringing your car out to the Isle of Pirates for a fruitless search for parking. Just take the bus to the beach. Feel free to dress up and join the drama. The fun will continue until 4:30 when the Pirates will pack up their camp and return, via the bus, to Mount Pleasant where they’ll slip back into their mainland camp. The last bus leaves for the mainland at 5:30 pm, when the ruby colored flag of the pirates will be struck and returned home.
