Island Grooves and Jazz Moves: Celebrating Harry Belafonte

USD Music Department faculty present an evening dedicated to the music of Harry Belafonte. Although Belafonte had a long successful career as a singer and actor - spanning from the 1950s to his recent death in April 2023, he is probably best known for his Caribbean-flavored hits from the 1950s, such as "Day-O (The Banana Boat Song)" and "Jump in the Line (Shake, Senora)." The USD Faculty Jazz Quartet is made up of vocalist Leonard Patton, pianist Reka Parker, bassist Justin Grinnell, and drummer Laurel Grinnell
