YOU are invited to join Nature Connect's end-of-year celebration on a memorable boating adventure with Carolina Ocean Studies! This outing is open to the public - you do not have to be a Nature Connect participant to attend!The "Island and Sound Exploration" program is designed to introduce homeschoolers to the coast and its wonders. Marine educators will be aboard to add insights to our discoveries as the students take part in an array of hands-on experiences that make learning exciting.
Program activities may include (depending on tidal conditions):
-Investigating the salt marsh
-Beach scavenger hunt
-Catching crabs on handlines
-On-deck interpretation of findings
-History of the area
-Squid dissection
Tickets are $49.44 per passenger.
Ages 5+ only (C.O.S. safety protocol)
Under 18 must be accompanied by an adult
Parking is available at any public lot near the Carolina Beach Marina at Carl Winner Drive, CB.
Parking is $25/day for cars.
What to bring (from Carolina Ocean Studies):
-Dress in old clothes and closed toe shoes
-Plan to get wet/sandy
-All children should bring a complete change of clothes, including socks and shoes (for after the trip)
-adults attending should also bring a change of shoes and socks as they will need to enter the water to supervise their child's activities
-water bottle
-sunscreen, sunglasses, hat (tight fitting)
-carrying bag for gear
-snack and lunch
-NO flip-flops, crocs or sandals please.
