Director, Center for Internal Auditing Excellence at The University of Texas at Dallas EXPERIENCE
SUMMARY
Joseph Mauriello is the Director of the Center for Internal Auditing Excellence at the University of Texas at Dallas (“UTD”) where he is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the academic program. UTD is one of eight recognized centers of excellence in the US and thirteen in the world, as designated by the Institute of Internal Auditors, and is currently recognized as the largest graduate program in internal auditing. Currently, Joseph teaches core courses in the graduate program including Internal Audit, Advanced Audit, GRC, Advanced Data Analytics, and IT Audit. He also teaches various accounting courses including Financial Statement Analysis, Cost Accounting, and Managerial Accounting.
Joseph has more than 20 years of management and supervisory experience in accounting and auditing in both public company and consulting environments. He has expertise performing business risk assessments, ERM projects, anti-fraud program development services, performance improvement assessments, quality assessment reviews, and fraud investigations within the Risk Advisory umbrella, along with traditional internal audit co/outsourcing and SOX Compliance project management services.
In addition to his work at the University, Joseph also serves as the Gleim Lead Instructor globally for the CIA Exam and for the ISC section of the CPA Exam.

Excellence – UT Dallas
Matt graduated with his bachelor’s in accounting and information systems and master’s in accounting and information systems from the University of Texas at Dallas in 2008 and 2010, respectively. As a student, Matt was the President of the IIA student chapter at UT Dallas and was a teaching assistant for the Center for Internal Auditing Excellence.
Upon graduation, Matt went to Weaver, LLP where he has worked for 13 years, with a focus on Sarbanes-Oxley compliance, internal audit, and business process improvement. He has led numerous internal control and compliance engagements for small private and large multi-billion-dollar companies alike. In addition to Weaver, Matt worked in the SOX
compliance group at Alliance Data for 2 years from 2013 to 2015, before returning to Weaver.
Since joining the UT Dallas team, Matt has served as the Assistant Director of the Center for Internal Auditing Excellence. Additionally, Matt teaches multiple courses such as external audit, principles of accounting, data analytics and other core accounting and internal audit courses.

Sanford publishes the Higher Education Compliance series (International Enforcement Law Reporter), heads Cybersecurity Leadership initiatives for Telecom4Good (387 NGOs/102 countries), is an Inspire2Live ambassador, and serves as Vice Chair, ABA ILS National Security Law Committee, and Steering Group Member, ABA ILS Cybersecurity, Privacy & Digital Rights Committee. She teaches cybersecurity/privacy/AI law, business law, cross-border, and international tax to 900+ graduate and undergraduate students at the University of Texas at Arlington. Sanford is also Of Counsel with Puga Ortiz Abogados. She is fluent in English, Spanish, Portuguese, and French, proficient in Italian, and has a basic understanding of German. Sanford holds a dual LL.M. from Georgetown (International Comparative Law & Tax) and a J.D. from Notre Dame.

Dr. Raza is a fulltime faculty member in Department of Marketing and Business Analytics, Texas A&M University, Commerce, Texas, USA since Fall 2022. His research interests include Data science, Business analytics, Revenue and pricing management, Supply chain management, Planning and scheduling, and New Product development. He has over Forty-five (45) publications in leading journals such as: European Journal of Operational Research, International Journal of Production Economics, Applied Mathematical Modelling, Computers & Industrial Engineering, Journal of Cleaner Production, Journal of Enterprise Information Management, Benchmarking- an International Journal, Expert Systems, Journal of Heuristics, Design Studies, 4OR- A Quarterly Journal of Operations Research, IMA Journal of Management Mathematics, International Journal of Quality and Reliability Management, International Journal of Health Care Quality Assurance, Journal of Modelling in Management, Journal of Quality in Maintenance Engineering, International journal of Operational Research, among others.
