Is Life Supposed to Suck?

Nothing says Christmas like a good, old-fashioned conversation about suffering. The truth is, life is hard sometimes. But is it supposed to be? Depending on which Christian you ask, suffering is either a normal part of the Christian life, or something God has given us power and authority to overcome. Are we supposed to expect a life of difficulty? Or are we supposed to expect God to overcome our difficulty?

In this special December Theology on Tap, sponsored by Heights Church*, we're going to drink some holiday brew, eat some holiday treats, and have a jolly debate about suffering, depression, existential ennui, and more. Santa himself couldn't be more Christmassy.

Grab your pint glass, don your gay apparel, pull out a copy of your favorite angsty philosopher, and join us at Heights Church.

Meredith Mills will lay out a Theological overview of how different traditions view suffering and then our special guest, Tim Mavergeorge will walk through how we can cope when life is...well...life. And then, as always, we'll have a large format group discussion where you can text your own questions in to our larger panel of pastors and professors, all while enjoying delicious craft beer!
