About this Event
Africa has the potential to be future-ready, driven by a large and young population and increasing innovation. By fostering collaboration among policymakers, innovators, and researchers, this event aims to build a resilient leadership ecosystem that can turn disruption into opportunity. The focus? Preparing Africa’s brightest minds not just to adapt but to lead in an era of AI, biotech breakthroughs, and digital transformation. Join us as we explore how anticipatory thinking can unlock Africa’s innovation potential on the global stage.
IS AFRICA'S FUTURE READY? tackles these issues while connecting the continent and the diaspora through networking, inspiration, and of course, a vibe with our resident DJs spinning between sessions. We believe that " allies and partners" matter - we have the power to create our own "new normal" by working across our communities all around the world - this is one of the reasons we are partnering with The Beta Collective and LYS during Afrotech. By fostering collaboration among other organizations, policymakers, innovators, and researchers. This event aims to build a resilient African Diaspora ecosystem that can turn disruption into opportunity.
The Big Picture
This interactive dialogue event brings together 20 diverse stakeholders to explore a critical question: Is Africa Future Ready? Using an innovative fishbowl conversation format, participants will engage in deep, authentic dialogue about Africa's preparedness for
emerging futures.
EVENT CONCEPT
"Is Africa Future Ready?"
This deliberately provocative question invites multiple interpretations: Ready for what? Whose future?
Who decides readiness? The ambiguity is intentional—it creates space for participants to bring their own perspectives, experiences, and questions to the dialogue.
What is a Fishbowl Conversation?
The Setup: Two concentric circles: an inner circle of 5 chairs (the "fishbowl") where active conversation happens, and an outer circle of 15 chairs where participants observe and wait to join.
The magic: One chair in the fishbowl always remains empty, inviting anyone from the outer circle to Join the conversation at any time.
The Flow: When someone sits in the empty chair, they join the active conversation. To maintain flow, another person must leave within a few minutes, keeping the dynamic rotating.
