The IRS is hiring Clerks and Tax Examiners for the Austin, TX Service Center!
During this two day, in-person hiring event for our customer support positions, we will be making job offers to pre-qualified applicants on-the-spot! ASL interpreters will be available during the event. The post of duty for these positions is Austin, TX.

Required Registration Steps
Step 1. Register to attend:
Find a convenient appointment time between 9:00 AM and 11:45 AM to meet with our hiring managers by first selecting a day (12/3 or 12/4) and then click on the Tickets link to choose an available appointment time. Please schedule only one time slot per person (duplicate appointments will be deleted at our discretion).
Step 2. Apply to the exclusive Austin-only announcement below:
Prior to the event, apply to the following exclusive, Austin-only, announcement by Sunday, December 1st. You will be asked to upload your resume and supporting documents (if using to qualify). We will pre-qualify you and you'll be given expedited consideration at the hiring event. Don't delay, apply today!
To qualify, you must have at least 12 months of general experience (paid or unpaid). Progressively responsible clerical and/or office experience indicates the ability to perform the job duties. Post secondary education can be substituted for experience.
We will pre-qualify you based on the experience listed on your resume. Failure to provide sufficient evidence of your experience on your resume may result in a "not qualified" or lower-graded determination.

Step 3: Attend the event:
Attend the event on the day and time you have chosen in Step 1 above.
About the Positions:
Clerks and Tax Examiners perform a variety of administrative tasks and duties associated with tax administration. These duties will vary based on the position and may include identifying and reviewing forms, preparing inventory reports, reviewing filed material, transcribing taxpayer documents, responding to taxpayer correspondence, resolving account issues, and reviewing tax returns for errors and missing information.
We will be offering full-time, seasonal positions on day and swing shifts (based on availability). Seasonal employment typically lasts 6-8 months or longer and provides the stability of returning to your position each year. These positions do not require you to have any prior tax experience, as we provide comprehensive training to new hires.
These positions are not eligible for telework. You will be required to work at the Austin, TX Service Center.
Eligible new hires may receive a $2,000 pre-taxed incentive, paid in two installments of $1,000 upon successful completion of employment at 6 months and 18 months. A two-year service agreement is required.

Day 2: Wednesday, December 4th
Appointment times: 9:00 AM – 11:30 AM
Walk-ins (based on position availability): 12:00 PM – 3:00 PM
To register, select a day (12/3 or 12/14) and then click on Tickets for an available appointment time slot between 9 – 11:45am. Although not a guaranteed appointment time, attending at your chosen appointment time will help to keep the event organized and prevent long wait times. Applicants that register and pre-apply to the link above will be given priority consideration. Walk-ins will not be considered until after 12pm.

What to bring:
During this event, we will be making job offers to those that pre-applied to the exclusive announcement listed above and were deemed qualified. Once an offer is extended and accepted, the applicant will be able to complete several pre-employment steps, such as fingerprinting, at the event. This process can take 2-3 hours to complete. Remember to bring:
- Your mobile device to access your USAJOBS account, and
- Two forms of ID for fingerprinting.
Note: If you choose to not apply to the exclusive announcement prior to the event, you will be asked to do so before receiving any consideration and you should bring your resume and copies of your transcripts (if using to qualify).
