The theme for this year’s conference is 'Being Well'. All of our workshops are linked to the 7 attributes of Being Well identified by the Primary Curriculum Framework for all Primary and Special schools (NCCA, 2023).

Workshop Descriptions
Title of workshop: Being Well Through Tennis
Presenter(s): Martina Petina
School/Organisation: Tennis Ireland
Workshop blurb: Teachers will be introduced to a set of progressional lesson plans, designed to take place in a small space, safely. Acting responsibly and showing care towards self and others will be woven into the workshop through examples of activities demonstrating maximum and fun participation. Playing tennis provides a lifelong physical activity, and will help students and teachers develop a keen sense of connectedness within their school and wider community.

Workshop blurb: Teachers will be provided with practical knowledge to plan to include further all children in the PE lesson to contribute towards their social, emotional and physical wellbeing. The DIPPE website resource toolkit will underpin the workshop content. It will focus on children being able to participate with growing confidence in skill and physical activity, and act responsibly showing care towards self and others.

Workshop blurb: This workshop will explore using Yoga techniques to enhance children’s sense of spiritual well-being. Through a range of practical breathing and movement activities (with and without the use of props), participants will focus on how to bring yoga to their classrooms/PE halls in order to promote a sense of purpose and meaning in children’s lives.

Workshop blurb: This workshop will provide a host of ideas for short movement and active mindfulness breaks to use throughout the school day. You’ll build your ‘bag of tricks’ for quick and easy classroom activities to energise or calm, and explore how to adapt any activity for different ages and abilities. The session will be relevant in supporting children to ‘be well’ by making good choices, increasing confidence and skill in PA and developing their self-awareness and resilience.

Workshop blurb: In this practical outdoor workshop adventure you will engage with using your voice and making choices through outdoor challenges. You will have fun, make fire, whittle, take risks and then reflect on your experiences. Wellbeing qualities such as persistence, flexibility, self-awareness and resilience will be explored.
