Talk: Climate, Design & Entrepreneurs with Sir David King. 7:30-8:30pm
Join us for a crucial discussion on the intersection of design, climate action and entrepreneurship featuring Sir David King.
Sir David King is the founder and chair of the Climate Crisis Advisory Group and founder of the Centre for Climate Repair at the University of Cambridge. Previously he was the UK Government’s permanent Special Representative for Climate Change from 2013 to 2017, and Chief Scientific Advisor from 2000 to 2007, during which time he raised awareness of the need for governments to act on climate change and was instrumental in creating the Energy Technologies Institute.
He also served as the Founding Director of the Smith School of Enterprise and Environment at Oxford; was Head of the Department of Chemistry at Cambridge University 1993 to 2000 and Master of Downing College at Cambridge 1995 to 2000. Sir David has published over 500 papers on science and policy, for which he has received numerous awards, and holds 22 Honorary Degrees from universities around the world.
He will be joined by a leading design expert and an entrepreneur (TBC) to explore how innovative design and entrepreneurial investment can drive sustainable solutions to the climate crisis.
A must-attend event for anyone passionate about the future of our planet and the role design can play in addressing climate challenges.
Design Diplomacy. 6-7pm
Design Diplomacy is a concept developed by Helsinki Design Week, and produces unique, intimate conversations between two creative minds. During the event the international design professional meets an Irish designer over a card game of questions. Visitors will have an opportunity to experience carefully curated and unique conversations as in each situation the interlocutors meet for the first time.
