Join award-winning authors Irenosen Okojie and Elizabeth Macneal for an enthralling discussion that bridges the mystical and the mysterious. Irenosen will delve into her extraordinary new novel, Curandera, while Elizabeth explores the gothic thrills of her latest book, The Burial Plot.
Curandera transports readers between 17th century Cape Verde and present-day London, weaving tales of shamanism, desire, betrayal, and friendship. The story follows a mysterious woman whose arrival in Cape Verde triggers strange events that alter the town’s fate, while in London, the lives of Therese, Azacca, Emilien, and Finn intertwine through their fascination with rituals and miracles. Okojie, co-presenter of the BBC’s Novels That Shaped Our World podcast and Turn Up For The Books, received an MBE for Services to Literature in 2021.
Elizabeth Macneal’s The Burial Plot is a gothic thriller set in London, 1839. Known for her evocative storytelling and richly drawn characters, Macneal delves into themes of life, death, and the macabre.
This event is a must for fans of richly layered storytelling and atmospheric fiction. Join Irenosen and Elizabeth as they discuss the interplay of mysticism, mystery, and history in their work. Gain insights into their creative processes and the themes that drive their captivating stories.
