After a hiatus last year, this year the Ireland-Palestine Solidarity Campaign's annual Sponsored Hill Walk will take place on Sunday 26th September 2021.This year we will be taking one of the loop paths up along the cliffs of the stunning Howth Head. We will be setting off from the outside the DART station in Howth, Co. Dublin at 12pm, and finishing up either on Howth Heath or in Sutton (weather dependent). The walk will take us along up Howth cliffs, taking in the stunning views of Lambay Island and Ireland’s Eye, accompanied by the scent of coconut from the bright yellow gorse on the heath. In total, the walk is about 10 kilometers.
Every year the walks are enormous fun and they raise a lot of money for the IPSC, as well as letting people get to know each other a little better and have a bit of craic together.
If you are interested in coming along and getting sponsorship (there is no minimum sponsorship fee!) then please email [email protected] with your details, put ‘Sponsored Walk’ in the subject title and we will send you on a sponsorship card and any further relevant info.
How to get there and back:
The easiest way is probably to get the DART train service to Howth DART station. We’ll be meeting outside the station at 12 noon – keep an eye out for some Palestinian flags flying.
What to bring:
Everyone should bring a packed lunch, enough to drink, warm and waterproof clothing, hiking/walking boots. The walk is not difficult, but participants should have a reasonable level of fitness. People will also be required to sign an indemnity form prior to the start of the walk.
