Join us for a workshop on how small startups have grown to become global monopolies in very short periods of time.
About this Event

Having participated in several startups that have grown to dominate their industry, Jared Nielsen provides insight into how small startups have grown to become global monopolies in a very short period of time. In an era where certain industries have allowed a small company with a core focus on the data ecosystem within an industry can become a billion-dollar enterprise, we can interactively evaluate several legacy industries that haven't been "Uber-ed" yet to assist startups on their plan to maximize their data reach within their own target industries. A key topic will be the rise of Fanatics.com from two t-shirt shops at a mall in Jacksonville to becoming the dominant global player in sports merchandise, having conquered the NFL, the NBA, the NHL, and world sports in a matter of years.

In this workshop, Jared shares the core strategies that enabled this failed remnant of a defunct Pic-n-Save retail chain to latch on to the data within the sports merchandise supply chain that began by outranking the NFL for its own merchandise on Google. Its undetected market leverage grew so swiftly that they were able to roll up retail fulfillment for Yahoo! Sports, CBS Television, and the NCAA through capitalizing on alumni associations. We will then discuss how they took advantage of strategic private equity to slingshot their position into a globally dominant monopoly.

Seeing a global domination market strategy executed from the inside may give your own startup insights and techniques that you can use within your own supply chain for a truly dominant market position.
