Mammon or Marriage? How to Maximize Happiness in Life and Love
Most people today think that education, work, and money matter most when it comes to building a meaningful and happy life. But they are wrong. Drawing on the latest in social science and ancient wisdom, University of Virginia Professor Brad Wilcox will unpack a fundamental truth: Family life matters more for happiness than the degree on your wall or the money in your bank account. In fact, nothing predicts men’s and women’s happiness better than a good marriage. Attend this free event as Professor Wilcox shares the five pillars of strong marriages in 21st-century America.

Speaker: Brad Wilcox
Professor Wilcox is a nonresident senior fellow at the American Enterprise Institute (AEI), where he directs The Home Economics Project. Inaugurated in fall of 2013, the research project explores the links between family and the economy at home and abroad,
Wilcox is also Professor of Sociology at the University of Virginia, where he directs the National Marriage Project, and a senior fellow at the Institute for Family Studies. He has been a research fellow at Yale University, a research associate at Princeton University, and a Civitas Fellow at the Brookings Institution. He is additionally the author of “When Marriage Disappears: The Retreat from Marriage in Middle America” and the coauthor, with Kathleen Kovner Kline, of “Gender and Parenthood: Biological and Social Scientific Perspectives.”
Wilcox has a master’s degree and a doctorate in sociology from Princeton University. His bachelor’s degree in government is from the University of Virginia.
