The Hagana - Museum Tour & Talk
with Dr. Brigadier General (res.) Ephraim Lapid
What: Come join us for an engaging day time field trip as we host our community at the Hagana Museum for a talk in-English with former senior intelligence officer and current head of the Hagana Heritage Organization, Ephraim Lapid. This is fun opportunity to connect with our thought-provoking history, while growing your Tel Aviv community, wine glass in hand.

Where: Hagana Museum, 23 Rothschild Blvd, Tel Aviv
Although the venue doesn't have dedicated parking, public lots are nearby

About Our Speaker: Ephraim Lapid
Dr. Brigadier General (res.) Ephraim Lapid has extensive and diverse experience in the military and public affairs arenas.
During his long military career, Lapid was a senior officer in the Israel Defense Forces Intelligence Corps, served as the IDF Spokesperson, and was a senior instructor at the National Defense College. He was also the head of Israel Army Radio, Galei Zahal.
Following his retirement from the army, Lapid has served in both the public and private sectors, serving on the board of several public education and nonprofit organizations. He has also authored a book in English 'The Israeli Intelligence community – An insider’s View'.
About Our Venue: The Hagana Museum
The Hagana Museum, located on Rothschild Boulevard in a Tel Aviv house built in 1923, features exhibits depicting the story of the establishment of the Jewish Yishuv during the British Mandate and the story of the Hagana that defended the Jewish Yishuv.
The Hagana Museum was built around the home of Eliyahu Golomb - the founder, and de facto commander of the Hagana. In 1930-1945, the Hagana's secret headquarters was located in his house. On this site, many fateful decisions were made regarding the Jewish Yishuv's existence in pre-state Israel, mostly on issues of defense, security, settlement and illegal immigration.
Golomb's residential room and office on the ground floor as well as the exterior of the house were preserved in full. Around them were built three floors of exhibits depicting the story of the establishment of the Jewish Yishuv during the British Mandate and the story of the Hagana that defended the Jewish Yishuv.
About Our Organization: Speakeasy Tel Aviv
Speakeasy Tel Aviv is a nonprofit initiative led by a dedicated group of English speaking volunteers with a mission to build a community of like-minded peers, interested in diverse speaker forum events of intellectual and cultural substance. We host monthly events, engaging with some of the most prominent voices in Israel, and from around the globe. Our community is focused on ages 50+ Olim and English-speaking Sabras from all over Israel. We maintain a non-partisan attitude towards the issues of the day, and look forward to welcoming you to our warm, wine-filled events.
According to some accounts, the word ‘speakeasy’ is originally derived from ‘speak-softly shops’ which were illegal clandestine drinking establishments in England during the 19th century. The name referenced the need for secrecy, with customers being asked to speak quietly while inside to avoid detection. Our Speakeasy Tel Aviv events strive to embrace this honorable culture of carefully curated speakers worth imbibing with intellectual curiosity, maintaining off-the-record confidential 'Chatham House Rules', while also partaking in our wine socializing mingling time, meeting friends, old and new alike.
