Explore the hidden world of bugs on our bug trail! Expert guides will help you identify insects, while gaining insights into their ecology and behaviour.


About BioBlitz 2024:

BioBlitz is an interactive, participatory, one-day event bringing together families, school groups, and local community members to engage in nature-based learning with University of Kent students, scientists, and local wildlife experts, including Kent Wildlife Trust; Butterfly Conservation; Kent Moth Group. Hosted by the Durrell Institute of Conservation and Ecology (DICE), the aim of the event is to record as many species of wildlife as possible on campus.

All surveys will start from the central hub in the Colyer-Fergusson hall (Near Gulbenkian). Please meet here 5-10 minutes before the start of the survey so that you can sign-in.


Please note:

All surveys are free, however prior booking is encouraged to ensure surveys are not oversubscribed.


Accessibility information:

  • 2km loop (1.3 miles)
  • You can choose to take a shorter survey by walking a loop that's approximately 1km long
  • Walking through woods so uneven ground – could be muddy, steep areas
