Join Bountiful Cities and Instructor Kelly Sunshine for an intensive hands-on workshop tackling invasive plants while transforming your relationship with challenging species! We'll spend significant time actively removing aggressive "opportunists" like pokeweed, wild grape, kudzu, bittersweet, and stilt grass from Pearson Garden's hillside, learning identification and ethical removal techniques as we work. Discover how to turn these management challenges into resources through composting and soil building, then help us restore the cleared area using cardboard mulching and soil amendments. Late summer is the perfect time to intervene before plants set seed—come ready to work and learn how these botanical "challenges" can become allies in sustainable land stewardship.Things to bring:
- Safety gear: Work gloves, eye protection, long pants recommended
- Restoration supplies: Brown cardboard - detapped
- Documentation: Camera, notebooks, plant ID guides
- Comfort: Water bottles, bug spray
- Refreshments will be provided for participants.
