2-Day Gold Plant Operation and Optimisation Course

This 2-day course hosted by Gekko Systems and Curtin University will provide attendees with an understanding of the fundamentals and practical applications involved in operation and design of modern CIL/CIP circuits, with a focus on plant optimisation. In-depth gold processing insights from world-class experts including:


  • Carbon adsorption, elution, and regeneration. The course will provide attendees with an in-depth overview of carbon for use in CIP/CIL circuits.


  • Mineralogical aspects of gold ore processing, including gold mineralogy, gold ores, and instrumental techniques.


  • Gravity recovery, including different devices and equipment, key features of a BCC circuits, gold room recovery performance, gravity recoverable gold, gold behavior in grinding circuits, gravity recovery flowsheet options, and design considerations.


  • The gold mine of the future, including information about the real-time instrumentation.

<h4>Who should attend?</h4>

This course would be of value to anyone interested in the design and/or efficient operation of modern CIL/CIP circuits. It will benefit practicing plant metallurgists, senior metallurgists, superintendents, consultants and design engineers new to or already working in, the gold industry who wish to upgrade or renew their knowledge in practical gold processing.


<h4>Speakers</h4>

Bill Staunton, Gold Technology Group, Curtin University

Bill has 40 years of experience in mineral processing including working for several Australian Universities, Government organisation and recently private consulting through his company AdvanceMet Pty Ltd. Bill is an Associate of Gekko and co-inventor of the Carbon Scout, a product which automates the process of measuring carbon in CIL/CIP circuits as well as automating carbon movement to maintain optimum levels.

Bill was the Manager of the Curtin Gold Technology Group and Amira P420 Gold Processing Technology project for 15 years, and is currently a Consultant to the Group and project. Th P420 project is a collaborative, industry funded project which has operated since 1986. Over nearly 40 years the project has covered a wide range of topics within the areas of gold ore processing and environmental management of tailings.


Sandy Gray, Technical Director & Co-Founder, Gekko Systems

Sandy invented Gekko’s patented systems including the InLine Pressure Jig, InLine Leach Reactor, G-Rex Resin Exchange and Python Processing Plant. These are breakthroughs in the field of mineral processing with over 600 installations in 43 countries.
