Session #4 Multifaceted Mosaic MeIn this session, you will imagine a virtual “family” gathering. What does it look like and who is there? Do you imagine one long table in the middle of a beautiful green meadow
with seating enough for everyone? Ribbon, yarn, and your thoughts written on strips of paper represent all those present at the gathering. You will create a weaving rich with the colors, textures, words, and elements of your choosing. Pause, breathe, settle in, and follow your intuition. What will you do? What will your weaving represent to you? Join me. Look inward. Embrace the process.
Embrace serenity. In the process of making intuitive creative arts, we engage in an inner dialogue with ourselves. Imagery over words. There is no right or wrong way to do it, just a willingness to let go of self-judgement and enjoy the process. It is a calm and enjoyable way of visual journaling that helps to express and understand our feelings and thoughts.

Introduction: Icebreaker to introduce myself and others. Housekeeping and group guidelines. Review the nine attitudes of mindfulness.
Opening: A brief guided breathing and movement exercise, followed by a short reading that aligns with the theme of roles & relationships.
Activity: Internal Family Mosaic (Cardboard Loom): Standard rectangular or circular cardboard loom with various materials to represent the different internal parts.
Contemplate three or more sets of roles or parts of yourself that are in a tug of war. What colors, textures, and feel does each part invoke? Choose your base color yarn and make your warp. Think about what elements to add to the weaving. How could you
represent different components of self? How powerful or timid they may be? How would you express their character or energy?
Weave all the parts together intuitively in a way that feels authentic in this moment. Be mindful of practicing curiosity, loving kindness and acceptance of all parts of yourself.
Closing: Reflect in our journals. Invite everyone to share, although sharing is optional, their experience with the group.
Optional 2 minute group dance to thematic song.
**You do not need to participate in the entire series, you may pick and choose the dates that work well for your schedule & Interest.
About Leslie Grant:
I am an Expressive Arts Facilitator and
someone who loves art and creativity.
I believe the mind, body, and spirit are
connected, both individually and collectively.
When I was a teenager, I would draw, write poetry, sew my own clothes and style them my way, tie-dye, design jewelry and in general, have a wonderful time “making.” Using my mind, hands, and intuition to create was a joy. But when my life took a turn, for decades I struggled to keep my fingers grasping onto the “ledge of the cliff”. I fell into full survival mode. Looking back from the other side, I realized that it was when I was creating or teaching others to create that I was calm and happy. For years, those experiences were my respite and sanctuary; a thread to hold onto that tethered me to my true self even as I was incrementally losing parts of myself.
In response to my lived experience, both negative and positive, I have come to believe that becoming one’s authentic self is a life priority. Now I share the science-backed, transformative work of creating expressive art with others. My workshops use the underlying themes of mindfulness, gratitude, self-awareness, and self-acceptance. The programs facilitate the exploration of self through drawing, painting, collage, clay, stitching, mending, wearable art, and theater games. My aim is to help others to create intuitive “art” with the intention to heal and unite with their true self.
“Every thought you produce, anything you say, any action you do, it bears your signature.” -Thich Nhat Hanh
