ISession #3 Handprints & SignaturesThe theme of this session is self-compassion and self-love. Are you holding onto something that wants to let go? What about your past or your future could you explore? Enjoy a “journey” of creativity. You will take a simple, guided, imaginative walk and then make a design using watercolors, your handprints, and your signature. The Buddhist monk, Thich Nhat Hanh says, “Every thought you produce, anything you say, any action
you do, it bears your signature.” Come, seek to discover a nugget of wisdom hidden within. You will take how more than a lovely painting! In the process of making intuitive creative arts, we engage in an inner dialogue with ourselves. Imagery over words. There is no right or wrong way to do it, just a willingness to let go of self-judgement and enjoy the process. It is a calm and enjoyable way of visual journaling that helps to express and understand our feelings and thoughts.

About Leslie Grant:
I am an Expressive Arts Facilitator and
someone who loves art and creativity.
I believe the mind, body, and spirit are
connected, both individually and collectively.
When I was a teenager, I would draw, write poetry, sew my own clothes and style them my way, tie-dye, design jewelry and in general, have a wonderful time “making.” Using my mind, hands, and intuition to create was a joy. But when my life took a turn, for decades I struggled to keep my fingers grasping onto the “ledge of the cliff”. I fell into full survival mode. Looking back from the other side, I realized that it was when I was creating or teaching others to create that I was calm and happy. For years, those experiences were my respite and sanctuary; a thread to hold onto that tethered me to my true self even as I was incrementally losing parts of myself.
In response to my lived experience, both negative and positive, I have come to believe that becoming one’s authentic self is a life priority. Now I share the science-backed, transformative work of creating expressive art with others. My workshops use the underlying themes of mindfulness, gratitude, self-awareness, and self-acceptance. The programs facilitate the exploration of self through drawing, painting, collage, clay, stitching, mending, wearable art, and theater games. My aim is to help others to create intuitive “art” with the intention to heal and unite with their true self.
