About this Event
Using tools and techniques of 19 th century Tinsmiths, you will learn how to layout the project using a pattern, cut tinplate, and assemble tinplate pieces into a candle sconce that you can take home. In this introductory class you will learn the basics of Tinsmithing, under the guidance and supervision of the instructor.
After reviewing safety and discussing the tools and techniques, you will learn how to work with hand tools as you begin your journey into the lost art of Tinsmithing. In this process you will be working with skills- including punching, forming and soldering as well as finishing techniques. The instructor will provide the materials, tools and safety gloves to be used during the class. This class is for anyone 16 years old and older.
You will take home your own hand-punched Tin Candle Sconce.
