Summary:  In this five hour course students will learn how to properly and safely set up and use a wood lathe to create a set of salt and pepper shakers.Description:  This course is designed for the beginning wood turner. All students will receive demonstrations on how to prepare a wood blank for spindle turning, how to glue up wood properly for success during turning, machine and tool vocabulary and safety, and tool use techniques. As an added bonus, students will learn how to easily mix their own polish for an incredibly fast and easy way to finish a turned object. We will then drill the proper sized hole in your finished pieces using the drill press, and assemble your shakers using quick dry epoxy.Concepts Covered:

About the Instructor:

Anthony Gaskins is an Atlanta wood worker and sculpture artist and shop manager with MASS Collective. They have a BFA in Printmaking and Book Arts from The University of Georgia. They own and operate Pitter Patter, a small custom fabrication company that creates beautiful custom pieces and signature designs.

Is my registration/ticket transferable?

Yes, please notify us before ticket sales end about any transfer of purchase.

 

What is the refund policy?

We will refund any ticket requested for any reason up to a week before the course runs, after that point we can only give credit to a future course. If the class cannot run as scheduled, for whatever reason, purchaser will have the option of a full refund or credit towards the makeup course.

Courses must sell a minimum of three tickets to run. If a course cannot sell three tickets, the students who have signed up will have the option to (a) reschedule or (b) receive a full refund. This notification will be issued when ticket sales end, approximately 48 hours before the course.
