Introduction to Sourdough WorkshopJoin me in my home-based micro bakery and learn how to make your own sourdough bread from scratch. Together we’ll learn the basics of making your own gut friendly, naturally leavened bread using only organic flour, water and salt.
During the session we will look at how to build and maintain a healthy starter, mix, handle and shape dough and also bake a variety of loaves, using both my commercial bread oven and a domestic one, equipping you with the tools to bake with confidence in your own kitchens.
We’ll be looking at the fundamentals of what makes a great loaf, how to adapt the process to fit your own schedule, as well as looking at different flours, inclusions and recipes using sourdough starter, making sure you head off with everything you need to bake your favourite loaves at home.
We’ll also have lunch together, teas, coffees and homemade snacks on arrival and plenty of time to ask questions and troubleshoot. This course is designed for beginners, but also suitable for those of you with a basic understanding of sourdough baking who are looking to deepen your knowledge.
At the end of the session you’ll go home with (at least) 2 loaves we’ve baked together on the day, as well as your proving dough ready to shape and bake at home. Also included is a banneton and dough scraper kit, a pot of starter and instruction/recipe booklet.
Participants are limited to 4 per session to ensure everyone gets the focus and help they need.
You will need to bring the following with you:
