About this Event
Grow Wakefield in partnership with Creative Minds and funded by The Wakefield Emotional & Mental Wellbeing Grant Fund on behalf of NHS Wakefield CCG and the Mental Health Alliance, are offering a limited number of free places to attend a one day course exploring the principles of Social and Therapeutic Horticulture (STH).
The course looks at the way in which nature, meaningful activity and social interactions come together to support a number of important health outcomes and participants will also explore who STH can help, how it works, and the scientific research behind it.
It should provide participants with a basic understanding and skills regarding using horticulture as therapy and is accredited by Thrive so people attending will receive a certificate and the course is accredited.
It will be run by trained Horticultural Therapist and local author Richard Brown.
You can find further details of what the course covers here: https://www.thrive.org.uk/get-training/courses-and-workshops/principles-in-sth
Priority will be given to those already working in the NHS or care sector and, to deter no shows, a £5 deposit will be required to secure a place but will be returned on the day.
