About this Event
Leeds Parent Carer Forum has commissoned IPSEA to deliver a one day training event. This training is designed specifically for parent carers and supporting family members of children with special educational needs and disabilities, providing an introduction to SEND law, and empowering attendees to secure the right education for their child.
This training day covers:
• The Law – where to find it; the basic definitions; scope
• How should a nursery, school or college help?
• How should a local authority help?
• The process to obtaining an Education, Health and Care (EHC) plan
• What should an EHC plan contain?
• Naming a school/college in an EHC plan
The content is particularly relevant for parents and carers who are looking to secure additional support at school and/or an EHC plan for their child, but would also be suitable for those who already have an EHC plan in place and would like to learn more about the law and how it applies to children and young people.
IPSEA is a registered charity operating in England. IPSEA offers free and independent legally based information, advice and support.
