Content Description: This training is designed for the play therapist in agency, private practice, or school setting who is interested in learning more about the use of sandtray during a play therapy session. We will cover the basic history and rationale, theoretical concepts, and practical implementation of sandtray therapy. Participants will be introduced to the selection and set-up of appropriate materials, protocol for a sandtray therapy session, processing the sandtray therapy session, and documenting the session. Participants will learn and discuss how sandtray therapy can fit in with both directive and non-directive play therapy approaches. Participants will participate in experiential activities throughout the training.
Behavioral Learning Objectives:
- Demonstrate an understanding of the history, rationate, and theory for play therapy and sand tray therapy
- Demonstrate appropriate knowledge of sandtray therapy materials including trays, sand, and miniatures
- Identify the role of the play therapist during the creation and processing of the sandtray.
- Describe the protocol for conducting a sandtray session including preparation, creation, processing, and documentation
- Explain when to use directive versus non-directive sandtray approaches in alignment with your play therapy theoretical orientation
- Describe three directive prompts or techniques that can be utilized with a directive play therapy approach.
Training Schedule:
8:30-9:00 a.m. : Sign-In
9:00-12:00 p.m. - Introduction to Sandtray Training - Part One
12:00 – 1:00 p.m. - Independent Lunch
1:00 – 4:00 p.m. - Introduction to Sandtray Training - Part Two
4:00 p.m. - Conclusion of training – completed participant evaluations required in order to receive CE certificate
Refund and Cancellation Policy:
Connect Counseling Center, LLC will make every effort to work with you and resolve issues related to refunds or cancellations. Due to the nature of this training, materials will be purchased prior to the training for the purposes of experiential activities. Therefore, we are not able to offer a refund within 48 hours of the date of the training unless the refund is requested due to unforeseen illness. We also incur a processing fee for the training and may ask that you retain the processing fee at the time of refund.
