This introductory workshop immerses you for the weekend in the magick of te putaiao, the natural world and the realms of Rongoa Māori.If you wish to increase your connection to and deepen your understanding of the medicine that grows all around us in Aotearoa then this wananga is for you.
Join us in the peaceful whenua and waters of Okuiti Valley, nestled near Wairewa/Little River, Christchurch for this magick journey of learning, community and connection.
The purpose for all Tauira/students is to deepen your understanding of Rongoa Māori and to immerse participants in nature whilst learning the fundamentals, the tikanga, wairua and ahua of Rongoa Māori.
Tauira/students for this workshop will learn about Māori healing modalities including Mirimiri; Romiromi, Rongoā Māori and Taonga Pūoro as well as Hau Tapu Breathwork.
This is a TWO DAY wananga where Tauira learn about
Tikanga a Rongoa - protocols, purpose and permissions in Rongoa Māori
Plant identification and uses - over a dozen native plants purpose, use and application
Tapu and Noa
Māori diagnostic systems and their uses
Elemental magick use and purpose
Mareikura/Whatukura - Divine Feminine and Masculine energies in Rongoa Māori
Whakapapa as it pertains to Rongoa Māori
Purakau - story telling
Rongoa preparation and practical uses - how to oils, balms, sprays, tonics, teas and more.
Rongoa Māori formulation
The weekend will take tauira deep into the realms of RongoaMāori; delving into the practical uses of native plant medicine as experienced through the lens of Te Ao Māori - the Māori world view.
Tauira will also receive
A comprehensive printed workbook
Rongoa Māori tasting and sampling, including Rongoa Māori Cacao blends
Hau Tapu Breathwork and Taonga Pūoro sound journey and meditation
Nourishing kai to end each day
An immersive connected community experience
This is an OPEN AND ALL INCLUSIVE event so all ages, genders and cultures are welcome to attend. All levels of practitioners are welcome.
Our venue is WHĀNAU FRIENDLY and all tamariki and Rangatahi are FREE. Please be mindful that you are responsible and must supervise your tamariki at all times.
Kaiwhakanoa, a meal to end each day will be provided as well as snacks throughout the day.

There are a full range of campsites, on site accommodations etc
We will also be using the Okuiti Valley old school down the road (10 min walk) for some of the indoor activities of the wananga.
Participants will also need to provide their own breakfast, lunch if not fasting and any additional food.
