THIS IS A 4 - WEEK COURSE 2nd SEPTEMBER TO 23rd SEPTEMBER
Start your week right with this Printmaking & Bookbinding Course! Take some time out to relax, learn a new skill and get creative.
Explore a range of printmaking and bookbinding techniques on this mindful making 4 - week course.
A perfect introduction to printmaking methods including lino printing, gelli printing and screen printing with an embroidery hoop.
You'll also explore some basic bookbinding techniques to make your own small notebooks and concertina books using some of the prints you've created on the course.
Ideal for complete beginners in printmaking techniques, or those who'd like to continue building on their previous skills and gain some new inspiration.
Week 1 - Gelli printing (unique prints onto paper, these can also be used as book covers later on)
Week 2 - Lino printing cards (creating A6 greeting cards)
Week 3 - Basic screen printing onto fabric using an embroidery hoop
Week 4 - Bookbinding (pamphlet stitch, Japanese stab binding & concertina books)
A bit about the tutor
Kirstie Williams is a Textile Artist and Printmaker based in Leeds and Wakefield. Her practice focuses on a range of printmaking and dyeing techniques and she explores Slow Design philosophies through making - emphasizing slowness in the creation and consumption of products to instil quality and foster traditional crafts.
Kirstie has over 12 years of teaching experience, having worked in formal education as well as many community-based settings.

To ensure this Mindful Making – Printing and Bookbinding is accessible to everyone we have made it Pay What You Can for the 4 - week Course. We have suggested £10 per session to help cover costs but if this is not affordable for you then please input what you can. (When booking, please add a donation of however much you can afford for the 4 - week course). Any donation is welcome. Stitch-Up CIC is a social enterprise and any profits we make are reinvested straight back into delivering our creative community projects supporting vulnerable and disadvantaged people in Leeds to learn new skills and improve wellbeing.
We will also be using this time to gain feedback from participants about what creative activities they would like to see going forward at Meanwood Community Centre so all feedback is greatly appreciated.
There is ample parking available at the Community Centre Car Park. If you cannot fit in the Car Park, please park on the main part of Stainbeck Avenue, with consideration to the residents please do not park in the cul-de-sac.
The Stitch-Up Studio is to the rear of the Community Centre. Once you arrive in reception please follow the signs for Stitch-Up.
