Join us in the education centre's veggie garden to learn about organic veggie gardening. During the workshop we will learn about organic materials we can use to create a soil mix high in nutrients and minerals to support the growth of vegetables. The workshop will educate participants on home compost systems, worm farming and growing living mulch. These three practices allow the gardener to create their own organic material to grow a sustainable home garden.
During the workshop participants will plant out a raised bed. During our time together we will propagate seeds for the ED centre garden. Participants will take home newly planted seeds in seedling pots to start their own home veggie garden.
There will be an introduction to food forest systems and participants will be given a tour into the establishment, ideas and principles behind the newly created food forest system in the seeds of learning garden.
Workshop facilitator Tim Richards will share his experience and knowledge gained during his time growing food in remote communities in the arid Pilbara region of Western Australia.
