Begin your natural dyeing journey in the rural and relaxing environment of Puddle Farm in Lanlivery with this introductory workshop.This workshop, aimed at beginners with little or no experience of natural dyes, will introduce you to the basic skills and knowledge needed to continue your very own natural dyeing practice at home.
During this hands-on learning experience, you will use traditional dye plants such as madder root and goldenrod along with some more accessible ingredients like turmeric and onion skins.
You will learn how to prepare fabric for successful results (scouring and mordanting), how to prepare a natural dye bath, how to shift colours after dyeing (modifying) and how to record your experiments.
You will take home a colourful range of naturally dyed samples, informative hand-outs recapping what was covered in the workshop and an eagerness to experiment!
