Details: Mountaineering is the technical winter ascent of a mountain or peak. While Vegas is thought of as a desert environment, we have peaks toping 12,000’ high, with annual snowfall totals of over 200+”. We will be covering the necessary winter skills needed to summit local peaks in the Spring Mountain Range such as crampon use, ascending/descending steep snow, self-arrest with ice axes, and basic rope skills for teaming up when on steep slopes. These skills will be the foundation needed for big peak ascents such as in the Sierras, Cascades, Rockies, and beyond. All equipment, transportation, and instruction included.
