Introduction to Kayaking on Humboldt Bay

Join us for an instructional kayak paddle on the Eureka Waterfront and Woodley Island areas. This lesson and guided tour will give you the seals-eye view of Humboldt Bay and plenty of opportunities to practice your paddling skills while viewing wildlife, and enjoying the second largest estuary in California! Our guides are equipped to give you loads of boating safety information as well as historical, cultural, and ecological interpretative knowledge.
No experience? No worries! Trained guides will provide students and guests with all the necessary equipment and teach the basic skills needed to enjoy this activity.

Program Fee Includes: High quality on-land and on-water boating safety and flat water kayak instruction, hard gear (kayak and paddle), soft gear (PFD, wetsuit, booties, splash jacket), and interpretive information.
Course Time Includes: Participant dressing, on-land lesson, on-water instruction and tour, and clean up.

Accessibility Information:
Vessel: This program uses Ocean Kayak sit-on-top self bailing kayaks(prepare to get a little wet). Kayak programs do require to sit for a long periods of time, while using shoulder and arm mobility.
Transportation: Transportation is not provided for this activity. All participants will meet at the Humboldt Bay Aquatic Center, located at 921 Waterfront Drive, Eureka CA
Facility: The Humboldt Bay Aquatic Center is equipped with an ADA compliant front door and an elevator. The facility has restrooms and locker rooms with showers. Please note if you would like to use a locker, the lockers are not equipped with locks but you are welcome to bring your own. There is a boat ramp that leads to our floating dock which changes grade based on the tide. All other walkways around the facility are flat and paved.
