About this Event
Course Description and Enrolment Details

Come and try out kayaking on the Union Canal. This is a gentle and fun introduction to kayaks in the safe and friendly hands of Forth Canoe Club coaches. No experience necessary!

There will be 1 lessons of 2 hours from 18:30 on Monday 29 April.

Who is this course for?

This course is intended for adults over 16 years who have little or no experience of watersports in kayaks.

Membership

Membership of FCC is not required for your first three sessions with Forth Canoe Club.

Location

The course will run from our boathouse, situated on the bank of the Union Canal at the southern end of Harrison Road.

The nearest Postcode is Polwarth Church - EH11 1LU.

What you should bring with you:

We ask that you bring a bottle of water and a snack. In addition you will need suitable clothing for water sports. Clothing is weather dependent, but could include a fleece, warm t-shirt/thermal, tracksuit trousers, cagoule/windproof and hat. We encourage you to wear footwear in the kayaks, plimsolls or wet-shoes are ideal. There are changing rooms and a toilet available during this time.

What else does FCC do?

You may find this gentle introduction a useful step before joining one of our longer courses such as Discover Kayak or Canoe also available on EventBrite. (The Discover courses are however also available for complete beginners.) After gaining some experience on the gentle waters of the canal you may like to take part in one of our trips further afield on lochs and rivers. Or join our canoe polo team, learn kayak slalom or sprint. In the winter months you can practice more advanced skills - safety and rolling - in warmer swimming pool water.

If you follow us on EventBrite you will receive notifications as new courses are added.
