About this Event
Learn the basics of fine jewelry making while you make a sterling silver textured ring. In this 3 hour class, students will learn to:
- Cut and shape silver
- Square joints for soldering
- Use a torch to anneal metal
- Solder a silver joint (through observation)
- Polish jewelry
- Apply patina to silver
This class is beginner focused and participants are not expected to have prior knowledge of jewelry making. The course is open to participants age 16 and over. (Participants under 18 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian who is also participating in the class.)
Teacher Bio
Vic Reynaud is a retired metalworker whose career spanned forty years. After retiring, he began his work as an artist. He has experience building steel sculptures. In his jewelry practice, Vic focuses on making beautiful gold, copper, and silver jewelry through a multitude of techniques including forging, lost wax-casting, and fold forming. As a teacher, he looks forward to bringing you to the next level in your craft.

What should I wear or bring to the class?
Please wear work boots or shoes made from leather or canvas (no nylon, it melts!). Wear natural fiber clothing (cotton is best). Safety glasses are required and will be provided, but if you have a pair you're comfortable in, consider bringing your own.
Are there ID requirements or an age limit to enter the event?
This workshop is only for those 16+. (Participants under 18 must be accompanied by an adult)
