‘Finding stories’Working with words has the power to take away that 'I don't know what to draw' feeling, and transport you into imagined worlds.
It's one of the reasons that Katherine loves illustrating so much.
This workshop will focus on using various creative drawing exercises to explore how we can enhance and interpret words using visual imagery, and also how to start creating unique visual stories of our own using our imagination.
If you have a favourite piece of prose, poetry or a song you would like to work with do please bring it along although we will provide starting points for anyone who wants one. A sketchbook is also useful if you have one.
We will provide everything else, this workshop is suitable for all levels with no experience necessary, just a love of drawing.
About Katherine
Katherine Soutar (Caddick) is an Artist and illustrator who specialises in themes of story and folklore. She has been illustrating folktales for both the history press and individual storytellers for many years. Katherine also worked part time in an academy school helping students develop both illustration and warm glass work for their GCSE's and A levels. She regularly runs workshops in mixed media techniques and print and teaches on an annual art escape in Morocco. Katherine also has a diploma in Art therapy from Goldsmiths college.
