Course Content:
This course is designed for potential designer makers who have little or no practical skills, but plenty of enthusiasm. You will be encouraged to understand the possibilities available to you in fine furniture making. With an insight into Williams and Cleal and the industry you will be awakened to your own potential. You will not only learn how to use tools to a professional standard but you will also use them to produce a small project to take home.
With a maximum of 8 students we are able to work very closely with you to meet your individual needs. In addition to being an excellent way of gaining invaluable skills, this short course can be also used as a taster experience for our full time provision.
We provide all tools. All materials for your project are included in the cost of the course. Skills covered include:
Selection, set up and sharpening of hand tools.
Use of hand and measuring tools.
Understanding basic workshop drawings.
Techniques to achieve successful chiselling and planeing.
Timber selection and identification.
Understanding basic joints.
